Chimpanzee Trekking

A guided trek through Gombe Stream's steep forested hills to spend time with habituated chimpanzee communities — the same ones Jane Goodall began studying in 1960. Physically more demanding than a standard game drive, with narrow trails and real elevation change.

Because Gombe Stream sits on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, reaching it usually means a domestic flight and a boat transfer rather than a road trip from the northern circuit — it's typically built into itineraries that already include western Tanzania, rather than added onto a Serengeti safari.
