Most nationalities need a visa, which can usually be arranged online in advance through Tanzania's official e-Visa portal, or on arrival at the airport for many nationalities. Requirements do change, so confirm the current rules for your specific nationality before you travel — we're happy to point you in the right direction when you book with us.

Only if you're arriving from, or transiting more than 12 hours through, a country with yellow fever risk (much of sub-Saharan Africa and parts of South America) — see our full yellow fever guide for details. If you're flying directly from the US, UK, Canada, Australia or most of Europe, it's not required, though the WHO still recommends it for your own protection.

Tanzania is a well-established, popular safari destination and generally safe for travelers who take standard precautions. As with anywhere, we recommend travel insurance and checking your government's current travel advisories before departure. Once you're on safari, you're with an experienced driver-guide the entire time.

We can't honestly guarantee specific sightings — this is wild, free-roaming wildlife, not a zoo. That said, Tanzania's parks (especially the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater) have some of the highest wildlife densities in Africa, and multi-day itineraries across more than one park meaningfully improve your odds of seeing all five.

Yes — every itinerary on this site is a starting point, not a fixed package. We adjust duration, pace, destinations and accommodation level before you book, based on what you actually want to see.

Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, tan — avoid bright colors and pure white or black, which can attract insects or stand out to wildlife), a warm layer for early-morning game drives, a sun hat, sunscreen, binoculars, and a good camera. If you're also climbing Kilimanjaro, that requires a completely separate cold-weather packing list — ask us for one once you've booked.

Tipping is customary in Tanzania's tourism industry, though never legally required. Guides, camp staff, and porters (on Kilimanjaro) generally rely on tips as a meaningful part of their income. We can give you specific, current guideline amounts once your itinerary is booked.

It depends on what you want to see — see our full when to visit guide. In short: June to October is the easiest dry-season game viewing and also when the migration reaches northern Serengeti/Mara; December to March covers the migration's calving season in the south.
