Burigi-Chato National Park was officially gazetted in 2019, formed from the Burigi and Biharamulo game reserves near Lake Victoria, close to the Rwandan border. At roughly 4,707 square kilometers, it's Tanzania's fifth-largest national park, spanning freshwater lakes, papyrus swamps, and rolling savanna — and because it's so new, it remains one of the least-visited parks in the country, offering a genuinely off-the-beaten-path safari experience.
