Burigi-Chato National Park

Burigi-Chato National Park became a national park in 2019, created from former game reserves close to Lake Victoria and near the Rwandan border. Covering about 4,707 square kilometers, it is among the largest national parks in Tanzania.

The park mixes freshwater lakes, papyrus swamps and rolling savanna. Because it is so new, very few travelers have discovered it yet, which makes it a true off-the-beaten-track safari for those who want to explore somewhere different.
