Spice Farm Tour

A guided walk through a working spice plantation, seeing (and tasting) cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and more growing in the ground rather than on a supermarket shelf — the crops that gave Zanzibar its historic nickname, the "Spice Island."

Guides typically walk you through the plantation picking leaves and bark for you to smell and identify before revealing what they are, and most tours end with fresh tropical fruit and the option to buy spices directly from the farm. It's an easy half-day addition near Stone Town, before or after a beach stay.
