12-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary: What's Realistic
What's realistically possible on a 12-day Tanzania safari
Twelve days is enough time to properly explore both the Northern Circuit and a southern park like Ruaha or Nyerere, rather than treating the southern extension as a rushed add-on. It's a length that particularly suits serious photographers — enough nights to spend multiple days at a single migration crossing point, rather than one attempt and having to move on regardless of what happened that day.
There's also room, at this length, to include a Kilimanjaro day hike — not a full multi-day summit attempt, just a taste of the mountain — alongside a complete safari, without either part feeling like it's competing for time with the other.
If you want real depth rather than breadth — fewer locations, but properly experienced — twelve days gives you the room to do that.
