How to be a considerate guest in the bush
A few simple habits make a safari better for everyone: the animals, your guide and your fellow travelers.
Stay seated and quiet at close sightings. Sudden movement or noise can disturb animals and spoil the moment. Never push your guide to get closer than they think is safe.
Your guide is an expert, not just a driver. Ask questions, and trust their judgment on timing and positioning, even if it means skipping a sighting.
If seats are not assigned, take turns at the windows, and remember that others may want to stop for photos more or less often than you.
Many camps are unfenced and animals can walk through, so follow the staff's instructions about moving around after dark.
Always ask before photographing people, and treat the visit as a real meeting rather than a photo stop. See our responsible travel guide for more.
