When To Go On Safari In Kenya

Kenya's safari seasons broadly mirror Tanzania's, since much of Kenya's best safari country shares the same ecosystem and climate patterns.

July to October is the dry season and the peak time to visit the Masai Mara — this is generally when migrating wildebeest cross the Mara River from the Serengeti. It's also the busiest and most expensive stretch of the year.

January to March is warm and mostly dry, with noticeably fewer visitors than the July–October peak — a good option if you want strong game viewing without the crowds.

April, May and November are the rainy periods. Expect lush, green scenery and quieter parks, though some roads become harder going and a few camps close temporarily.
