Uganda Safari Overview

Uganda is best known for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — one of the only places on Earth to see mountain gorillas in the wild — alongside chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest and classic savanna safari in parks like Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls. Many travelers combine Uganda with a Tanzania safari or Rwanda gorilla trekking into a single, longer East Africa itinerary.

Uganda's safari style is noticeably different from Tanzania's open-plains game drives — much of the country is lush, hilly and forested, and the wildlife experience leans more toward primates and forest species than the classic Serengeti big-cat scene, with savanna safari available too in the drier western parks.
