Overview
Marangu was the first route used to reach Kilimanjaro's summit and is known as the Coca-Cola route because it is the most direct and accessible way up. It is also the only route with huts at every stop, with solar lighting and real beds instead of tents and sleeping mats.
Mandara and Kibo huts each sleep 60 climbers and Horombo has 120 beds. You share the dining huts with climbers from around the world, which gives the evenings a lively, sociable feel that the camping routes do not have. The two lower huts have bathrooms and running water, while the last camp before the summit has basic toilets.
