Tanzania Safari from Canada: Flights, Visa and Planning

There's no direct flight from Canada to Tanzania, so the journey means routing through a European or Gulf hub — Amsterdam, Doha and similar connections are the most common paths to Kilimanjaro International Airport. It's a genuinely long day of travel from most Canadian cities. An e-Visa applied for well before departure is the most reliable route for Canadian passport holders, since it removes one variable from an already long journey. Given the total travel time involved, we typically recommend Canadian travelers plan for 10 nights or more — it's the trip length that makes the most sense of the distance, rather than trying to compress a safari into a shorter window and spending a disproportionate amount of your trip in transit. A longer stay also opens up realistic combinations: a full Northern Circuit safari alongside a Kilimanjaro climb, or extending onto Zanzibar afterward, both make good sense once you're committing to the travel time regardless.
