Tanzania Safari in November: Weather, Wildlife and Crowds

November brings the short rains, and with them, a genuinely different Serengeti to the dry months that came before. The plains refresh and green up quickly, and the migration responds by moving back toward the south, retracing its route ahead of the calving season that follows in January and February. This is one of the quieter months on the Northern Circuit for tourist numbers, and camp rates drop noticeably from the June-September peak as a result — a real opportunity for travelers who don't mind the occasional shower in exchange for lower prices and fewer other vehicles at every sighting. It's also a strong month for photography specifically: dramatic rain-season skies, combined with the first newly born wildlife starting to appear ahead of the main calving rush, give genuinely different material than the dry-season months.
