Home Travel Information Tanzania Safari Overview
Safari vehicle among elephants in Tanzania

Tanzania is East Africa's largest and most complete safari destination — home to the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, plus Mount Kilimanjaro and the beaches of Zanzibar. Few countries let you combine a big-game safari, a mountain climb and a beach holiday in a single, logistically simple trip — which is exactly why so many travelers choose Tanzania over splitting a trip across several countries.

The classic northern circuit — Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti — can realistically be covered in anywhere from 4 to 10 days depending on pace, and works well whether it's your first safari or your fifth. If you have more time, the southern parks around Selous and Ruaha offer a quieter, less-visited alternative with excellent game viewing and far fewer vehicles.

Abakombe Tours and Safaris is based in Arusha, the northern city that almost every Tanzania safari departs from, and we've spent over 10 years building itineraries around this region specifically. We don't spread ourselves across a dozen countries — Tanzania is what we know, and it shows in the detail of how we plan a trip.

Browse our Tanzania safari itineraries, or get in touch and tell us what you'd like to see; every trip we build is shaped around your dates, budget and interests rather than sold as a fixed package.
