Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous group of islands in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Tanzania. It has long been called the "Spice Island" thanks to its plantations of cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Stone Town, the old capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Swahili, Arab, Persian, Indian and European influences mix in its narrow lanes and carved doorways. Today most visitors come for the soft white sand and warm turquoise sea, which makes Zanzibar the perfect place to relax after a mainland safari.
