Arusha National Park is one of northern Tanzania's most underrated parks. It sits just outside Arusha town, under the slopes of Mount Meru, a peak many climbers choose as a quieter alternative to Kilimanjaro.

Far fewer people visit than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, which makes it an easy and rewarding day out. The scenery ranges from the Momella Lakes to Ngurdoto Crater, and you have a good chance of seeing giraffe, buffalo and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
