Overview
Arusha National Park is only about 45 minutes from Arusha town, yet it gets a fraction of the visitors of the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, which makes it one of Tanzania's hidden gems.
In a single day you can see the Momella Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater, spot giraffe, buffalo and colobus monkeys, and step out of the vehicle for a walking safari with an armed ranger, something few Tanzanian parks allow. There are no big cats here, but the chance to explore on foot more than makes up for it.

Day by Day (1 days)
ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK DAY SAFARI
We collect you from your Arusha hotel in the morning and drive to Arusha National Park, whose variety of animals and plants never fails to impress; the area was even used to film the Hollywood classic Hatari! with John Wayne. The day includes a visit to Ngurdoto Crater, and buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, warthog, zebra, baboons and many birds can be seen all year. At Momella Gate an armed ranger joins you for a walking safari, a rare chance to see wildlife on foot. After a picnic lunch you continue exploring by vehicle before returning to Arusha.
