Overview
This 2-day itinerary is a genuinely practical way to fit gorilla trekking into a shorter trip, with the extra day compared to a single-day visit giving you a proper overnight near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — a real forest lodge stay, rather than a rushed same-day return.
The trekking day itself follows the standard format: an early start, a briefing at park headquarters, then a hike of variable length to reach a habituated gorilla family, followed by a closely regulated hour observing them up close. The second day allows a more relaxed departure rather than a tight same-day turnaround.
This length works well as a standalone gorilla trekking trip, or as an easy add-on to a longer Uganda, Rwanda or Tanzania itinerary.
