Overview
One day longer than our four-day version, this safari keeps the same focus on the migration and big cats but gives you time to settle into the rhythm of the bush. It covers Tarangire, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, and can start in Arusha or Mwanza.
Our guides spend years learning to read predators, where a lion pride is likely to rest or which way a cheetah is watching, and that skill makes more difference to your sightings than luck. Contact us for availability.

Day by Day (5 days)
ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
A full day of game viewing in Tarangire National Park, which comes alive in the dry season as birds gather along the permanent Tarangire River and herds of giraffe, zebra, buffalo and elephants come to drink.
Overnight at Eileen's Trees Inn, all meals included.
OLDUVAI GORGE AND INTO THE SERENGETI
You drive to the Serengeti, with an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey's famous discoveries about early humans, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Overnight at Serengeti Baobab Tented Camp, all meals included.
FULL DAY IN THE SERENGETI
A full day exploring the Serengeti from early morning. Your guide heads for the best areas of the season, from the hippo pool and resting lion prides to the heart of the migration and the rocky kopjes where predators shelter. Look for elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and lion, and with luck leopard and cheetah.
Overnight at Serengeti Baobab Tented Camp, all meals included.
NGORONGORO CRATER
An early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, where the Maasai graze their cattle alongside the wildlife. The steep crater walls create a natural sanctuary for lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and sometimes leopard, though giraffe cannot manage the slopes. In the afternoon you drive to Karatu.
Overnight at Eileen's Trees Inn, all meals included.
LAKE MANYARA AND BACK TO ARUSHA
You drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but varied park of lake, groundwater forest, grassland, hot springs and woodland below the Rift Valley wall, with over 350 bird species and famous tree-climbing lions. After a picnic lunch you drive to Arusha.
Overnight at Karama Lodge, Arusha, with dinner and breakfast included.
