Overview
Beginning in Mwanza and ending near Kilimanjaro, this eight-day safari follows the migration season, bringing you close to the huge herds and the big cats that trail them. Eight days allows you to move between different parts of the Serengeti and on to Ngorongoro as conditions change.
When the timing is right, the Mara River crossings in the north are the highlight, and even outside the crossing weeks the amount of wildlife following the herds makes for superb game viewing. Your guide adjusts the plan daily based on where the animals are. Contact us for seasonal updates.

Day by Day (8 days)
ARRIVAL IN MWANZA
Your safari starts in Mwanza and ends near Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival your driver-guide meets you, and a safari briefing is held at your hotel.

MWANZA TO THE CENTRAL SERENGETI
You drive into the Serengeti, spotting wildlife on the way to the central plains.
Overnight at Serengeti Baobab Tented Camp, all meals included.
NORTH TO KOGATENDE
After breakfast you head north to Kogatende with a picnic lunch, game viewing for much of the drive and arriving at camp in the late afternoon.

MARA RIVER CROSSINGS
A full day around the Mara River, famous for the Great Migration. Wildlife is especially plentiful in the Wagakuria area, and there are good chances of seeing the herds cross the river.

BACK TO THE CENTRAL SERENGETI
Another full day in the Serengeti, starting early for the best viewing. You may visit the hippo pools, spend time with large lion prides or find yourself surrounded by the migrating herds.

SERENGETI TO THE NGORONGORO RIM
After a morning game drive you leave the Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and continue up to the crater rim for the night.

NGORONGORO CRATER
An early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The Conservation Area is managed for both wildlife and the Maasai, who graze their cattle alongside wild animals. In the afternoon you drive to Karatu.

TARANGIRE AND ON TO ARUSHA
Today you visit Tarangire National Park, famous for its big elephant herds, giraffe and rich birdlife along the Tarangire River, especially in the dry season. In the afternoon you drive to Arusha, where the safari ends.
