Overview
This nine-day safari crosses from Kenya into Tanzania, staying in lodges instead of tents for travelers who prefer a solid room and private bathroom after a long day on the road. You begin in Nairobi, spend three days in the Masai Mara, cross the border into the Serengeti to look for the migration and finish at Lake Manyara.
Nine days lets you enjoy both parks without feeling rushed. We choose lodges for their location near the best game viewing rather than for luxury. Get in touch to check availability.

Day by Day (9 days)
ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI
Fly into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), ideally early in the day. A private transfer takes you to Osoita Lodge near Nairobi National Park, where the rest of the day is free. Later you meet your safari driver-guide for a short briefing and equipment check.

MASAI MARA GAME DRIVE AND MAASAI VILLAGE
An early game drive while the animals are most active. You can also choose to visit a Maasai village, join in a traditional dance and step inside a family homestead to learn about their semi-nomadic way of life.

FULL DAY IN THE MASAI MARA
After an early drive and breakfast back at camp, you head out for the day with a packed lunch, looking for predators and their prey, including zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, hippo and crocodile, with a visit to the Mara River.

ANOTHER DAY ON THE MARA PLAINS
A full day exploring the wide plains of the reserve in search of the Big Five, with morning and afternoon game drives.

MASAI MARA TO THE SERENGETI VIA ISEBANIA
After an early breakfast you collect packed lunches and drive to the Isebania border, game viewing on the way. After visa and immigration formalities you continue into the Serengeti.

SERENGETI WESTERN CORRIDOR
After breakfast you drive from the Seronera area to the Western Corridor, game viewing on the way, and arrive for lunch at the lodge. An afternoon game drive follows. In June the migration is usually in the Western Corridor, depending on the rains.

GRUMETI RIVER MIGRATION CROSSING
A full day in the Serengeti with the aim of watching the herds cross the Grumeti River. The Great Migration is a dramatic struggle for survival and one of the world's great wildlife spectacles.

LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
A full day of game drives in Lake Manyara National Park. The park is small but rewarding: the lakeshore is full of birds, the famous tree-climbing lions are sometimes seen, and there are more large mammals than you might expect, all below the cliffs of the Rift Valley escarpment. In the late afternoon you drive on to Arusha.

DEPARTURE
After breakfast or lunch at the hotel, we drive you directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
