Overview
This trip is built around Rwanda's two great primate experiences: mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park and chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest. Rwanda is one of the easiest countries in the region for both.
Gorilla trekking means a hike through thick forest to find a habituated family, then a carefully controlled hour watching them up close. Chimp tracking in Nyungwe is a different but equally exciting encounter, set in one of East Africa's oldest mountain rainforests.
Gorilla permits are limited, so the earlier you plan, the better.
