Overview
This three-day climb reaches Mount Meru's summit faster than the usual four-day trek. It suits fit climbers who are short on time, but remember that the quicker pace leaves less time to adjust to the altitude.
The trail climbs through the forest of Arusha National Park, where wildlife is often seen on the lower slopes, then into moorland and volcanic ground below Socialist Peak at 4,566m. You set off in the early hours of summit day to reach the top at sunrise.
It works as a short mountain trip on its own, or as a quick acclimatization climb before Kilimanjaro.
