Hotel And Tents

Most Kilimanjaro itineraries include a hotel night in Arusha or Moshi both before and after the climb — useful for rest, a final gear check against our packing list, and a proper shower and meal once you're back down.

On the mountain itself, you'll sleep in four-season mountain tents, set up each evening by the crew before you arrive at camp — unless you choose the Marangu route specifically, which uses shared mountain huts instead of tents.

We use good-quality, weatherproof tents suited to Kilimanjaro's conditions, plus sleeping mats — you'll need to bring or rent your own sleeping bag rated for well-below-freezing temperatures (see our full packing list for specifics).
