5-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary: What's Realistic
What's realistically possible on a 5-day Tanzania safari
Five days is where a Tanzania safari starts to feel unhurried. It's enough time for a proper Northern Circuit combination — Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, and two nights in the Serengeti — with a full day dedicated purely to wherever the migration happens to be that month, rather than just passing through on the way to somewhere else.
This is the length we most often recommend as a genuine minimum for travelers who specifically want a real shot at the Big Five without feeling rushed between parks. Four days can work, but five gives you the buffer to actually settle into a park rather than seeing it in a single pass.
It's also a comfortable length to build around, whether you want a straightforward wildlife-focused trip or a bit of flexibility to add a cultural stop along the way.
