Hidden Costs to Know Before Booking a Tanzania Safari
Hidden Costs to Know Before Booking a Tanzania Safari
Real, honest pricing guidance from Abakombe Tours and Safaris
A quoted safari price rarely tells the whole story, and knowing what's typically excluded helps you budget properly rather than being surprised later. Park entry fees, concession fees and government levies are commonly charged separately from the base safari price across the industry — worth asking about directly if a quote seems unusually low compared to others you're comparing.
Tipping guides and camp staff is customary in Tanzania and should be budgeted as its own daily expense rather than assumed to be included (see our tipping guide for typical amounts). International and domestic flights are almost always excluded from a quoted safari price too, along with any pre-safari hotel nights you spend in Arusha before your trip officially begins.
We build our quotes to be genuinely transparent about what's included and what isn't, precisely because these gaps are where a lot of unpleasant surprises happen with less transparent operators.
