Staying connected on a Tanzania safari is easier than many travelers expect, at least in the places you'd expect it to work. Local SIM cards are simple to buy on arrival at either Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam airport, and they're generally inexpensive with reasonable data packages available immediately. The honest caveat is coverage. Mobile signal is generally reliable near towns and most lodges, but it can disappear entirely once you're out in more remote sections of a national park — this is genuinely part of the experience for many travelers, a few days properly disconnected from constant notifications, rather than a problem to solve. Most camps offer some WiFi in shared common areas, though connectivity inside individual tent rooms is often limited by design rather than oversight — many camps intentionally keep rooms as a genuine escape from screens.
