Overview
Three days on Zanzibar pairs beautifully with a longer safari elsewhere in Tanzania — enough time to properly shift gears from the bush to the beach, without adding so many extra days that your overall trip length becomes unwieldy.
A typical 3-day stay combines a little of both sides of Zanzibar's appeal: time in Stone Town, the island's UNESCO World Heritage old town, with its layered Swahili, Arab and colonial history and famous carved wooden doors, alongside genuine beach relaxation for the remainder of the stay. It's a compact way to see both the island's cultural side and its natural one.
This length works especially well as the closing chapter of a longer trip — three nights of proper relaxation after the early mornings and long drives of a safari, rather than heading straight home still running on safari time.

HISTORICAL STONE-TOWN TOUR
Stone Town is one of the oldest living Swahili towns in East Africa. Its unique winding, narrow streets are adorned with (some crumbling) beautiful buildings. Established by Arab slave and spice traders in the early 19th century, Stone Town is the cultural heart of Zanzibar.
